BTCA'S MISSION - To "promote sustaiable investment & growth of the knowledge-based ocean and water industries, to the mutual benefit of all parties, through active regional, national and international collaboration."

 

 

According to their website the mission of the BTCA is to promote sustainable investment & growth of the knowledge-based ocean and water industries, to the mutual benefit of all parties, through active regional, national and international collaboration. The aim is to Work together in areas where members of participating clusters can share information, collaborate on research and development initiatives, and jointly pursue business development opportunities.

 

LAUNCH JANUARY 2017

 

After several years of coordination, the BlueTech Cluster Alliance (BTCA) formally launched in January 2017 with seven charter members including Forum Oceano (Portugal), Marine Institute (Ireland), Oceans Advance (Canada), PLOCAN (Spain), Pole Mer Mediterranee (France), The Maritime Alliance (US) and the UK Blue Growth Network (UK). The BTCA now includes ten clusters in total from eight countries.

Ocean Business 2019 (Southampton, UK)

More than 360 international exhibitors, over 180 hours of training and demonstration workshops, a cutting edge conference, industry led associated meetings, a careers event and innovative networking opportunities.

Most BTCA member clusters will be represented at Ocean Business 2019 including the TMA BlueTech Pavilion showcasing a number of SMEs from across the U.S.

In addition, BTCA cluster members will host a meeting from 1-3 pm on Monday, April 8 (the day before Ocean Business opens) and welcomes anyone interested in developing BlueTech clusters in their region.

FOWT 2019 (Floating Offshore Wind Turbines: once again the world's largest event dedicated to floating offshore wind.

Following FOWT 2018's resounding success with nearly 6800 participants from 25 different countries, preparation of FOWT 2019 is actively under way and will take place in Occitanie/Pyrénées Méditerranée region in spring. 

FOWT2019 is co-sponsored by BTCA cluster member Pole Mer Mediterranee (PMM).

 

 

European Maritime Day (EMD2019) (Lisbon, PT)

The focus of the European Maritime Day 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal, will be on blue entrepreneurship, innovation and investment to transform traditional maritime sectors and boost emerging technologies and value chains. A specific focus will be put on research and innovation for a plastic-free ocean.

The EMD is the annual EU meeting point on maritime affairs and blue growth. It targets maritime professionals, entrepreneurs and ocean leaders from Academia, NGOs, businesses, governments and public institutions.

The 10th annual BlueTech Week organized by BTCA member The Maritime Alliance held on 5-9 Nov. 2018 was our biggest ever with over 550+ attendees at 7 events over 5 days from 16 countries including 150+ speakers and representatives of 140+ companies. We expect the 11th annual BlueTech Week to continue the growth trajectory with an increasing number of representatives of academia, clusters, government, industry, military, NGOs and policy makers from a growing number of countries. 

The BTW2019 theme will be "The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Clusters and the Triple Helix." Monday, Nov. 18 will be the 5th annual “by-invitation” BlueTech Cluster Convening; Tuesday will be a one-day conference co-hosted with Scripps Institution of Oceanography on “The Decade of Ocean Science: Promoting Industry & Science Collaboration”; Wednesday-Thursday will be the BlueTech Summit & Tech Expo with multiple tracks on Aquaculture/BioMarine, Maritime Robotics, Offshore Renewable Energy, Water/Wastewater technologies and Workforce Development plus - on Wednesday evening - the 11th annual Maritime Gala Dinner & Award Ceremony; and on Friday, Nov. 22, the 4th annual BlueTech Investor Day. The 2nd edition of Oceanology International Americas (OiA) is organized in association with The Maritime Alliance. The exhibition and conference will focus on key issues in ocean science and marine technology for the Americas and globally, whilst also placing the spotlight on world-class technology and research projects.

Oi portfolio of events first started in the UK. In 2019 Ai celebrate s its 50th anniversary in San Diego. Over the years, the Oi portfolio has established itself as a truly global portfolio with events in London, China and San Diego.

 

 

10th annual BlueTech Week
