BTCA'S MISSION - To "promote sustaiable investment & growth of the knowledge-based ocean and water industries, to the mutual benefit of all parties, through active regional, national and international collaboration."
According to their website the mission of the BTCA is to promote sustainable investment & growth of the knowledge-based ocean and water industries, to the mutual benefit of all parties, through active regional, national and international collaboration. The aim is to Work together in areas where members of participating clusters can share information, collaborate on research and development initiatives, and jointly pursue business development opportunities.
LAUNCH JANUARY 2017
After several years of coordination, the BlueTech Cluster Alliance (BTCA) formally launched in January 2017 with seven charter members including Forum Oceano (Portugal), Marine Institute (Ireland), Oceans Advance (Canada), PLOCAN (Spain), Pole Mer Mediterranee (France), The Maritime Alliance (US) and the UK Blue Growth Network (UK). The BTCA now includes ten clusters in total from eight countries.

The cluster is building on its traditional extensive underwater oil & gas expertise into other ocean sectors including aquaculture, deep sea mining & renewable energy (i.e. offshore wind, tidal power, and wave power).

Pole Mer Bretagne Atlantique (Fr) - https://www.pole-mer-bretagne-atlantique.com/en/ Established since 2005, Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique (PMBA) is a Sea Innovation Cluster located in the western part of France. Gathering a membership of about 350 and driven by reseach-industry-government relationships, PMBA aims at facilitating the emergence of collaborative R&D projects and supports the growth of its members at national but also international level.
Pole Mer Mediterranee (France) - www.polemermediterranee.com Created in 2005, Pôle Mer Méditerranée is a business and innovation world class sea cluster located in South of France. It aims to promote sustainable development of the maritime and coastal economy, in the Mediterranean, Europe and the rest of the world.
The Maritime Alliance (US) - www.themaritimealliance.org TMA is the largest BlueTech (ocean & water/wastewater) cluster organizer in the United States with over 100 members. Its Mission Statement is “Promoting Sustainable, Science-Based Ocean & Water Industries”. It does this by bringing together the Triple Helix - academia, industry and policy makers - to create a regional Blue Voice. Its tagline is “Promoting BlueTech and Blue Jobs®”
